Newspapers no longer control the marketplace

Gumtree helps people flat share

Newspapers were the most successful media organizations in the world because they controlled the market place - what music we listened to , which jobs we found and which homes we bought.

Now, the most successful media organistions are the ones which build platforms and support communities to create their own market place. You only have to look at myspace for music, youtube for videos, and gumtree for adverts. But this is still very raw. The media corporations which survive in the future will make sense of all the content we provide. Their journalists will edit our videos and comment on our ground reports. They will make the world’s rough and ready reportage seem slick. PS
