Global Education & Skills Forum

The annual Global Education and Skills Forum brings together thousands of global stakeholders to find innovative solutions that are practical and scalable in delivering a high quality education for all.

The annual Global Education and Skills Forum (GESF) in Dubai brings together Heads of State, Education Ministers, social activists, business leaders, education entrepreneurs and NGO heads, to find innovative solutions that are practical and scalable in delivering a high quality education for all. Recent speakers include President Bill Clinton, former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO.

Despite the UN Millennium Development Goal to achieve universal primary education by 2015, 58 million children worldwide still do not attend primary school. In low-income countries, one in three children are unable to read after five or six years in school. At current rates of progress, UNESCO estimates, it will take until 2072 to eradicate youth illiteracy.

The annual GESF, which is held over two days, brings together more than 2,000 delegates to share, debate and shape new ways for education to transform our world. The Forum culminates in the awarding of the Global Teacher Prize, which recognises the exceptional work that teachers do around the world.
