The Bertelsmann Siftung Foundation is one of Germany’s leading think tanks. In keeping with the fundamental beliefs of its founder, Reinhard Mohn, the Bertelsmann Stiftung sees itself as a driver of social change. It is committed to the values of freedom, competition, solidarity and goodwill. It is a private opertating foundation that invests its budget solely in projects that it conceives, initiates and implements itself.
The Bertelsmann Stiftung is currently engaged in more than 60 projects. It projects have a limited time frame, depending on subject area, which cyclically frees up resources for new endeavors. If a pilot project proves successful, i.e. if a solution or approach has been successfully developed, the foundation devotes resources to seeing that it reaches a wider audience.
Apollo worked with the Bertelsmann Siftung Foundation to rewrite a German publication explaining the content of the draft European constitution for a British audience. We rewrote substantial sections and substituted British political examples for the German ones already in the text to make it suitable for a British readership. We also rephrased the whole text to make it read like a natural piece of English prose. The publication was then distributed to opinion formers throughout the UK.
